Goal number 54: Attend 5 Concerts

Done. Complete. Awesome.

The following bands/performers were seen:

1. Birds of Tokyo; Broken Strings Tour. I also have tickets to their upcoming show on May 28th at the Hi-Fi Bar in Brisbane which I am so excited for, because they are one of the most awesome bands on the planet.
2. Green Day w/ Jet.
3. Cobra Starship w/ Owl City
4. British India w/ Numbers Radio
5. Paul Dempsey w/ Dan Kelly’s Dream Band

The interesting part about this was that I attended international bands (Green Day and Cobra Starship) with my sister, and the three Australian ones (Birds of Tokyo, British India and Paul Dempsey) with Dylan.

Here’s a couple of pics from the most recent concert, Paul Dempsey :)

Slack.

14 04 2010

Slacker than a ferret. I don’t know what that means, but no one mentions ferrets enough these days. Nor do they mention chinchillas enough. Well, I don’t think anyone really mentions them.

I am here to report that I have done paintball. Well, one round of it anyway. Being shot in the leg once was enough as far as the appearance of that bruise was concerned. I don’t think Dylan or Chris minded however, when they got extra paintballs from me. However, I am willing to go paintballing again. The problem with my first experience was that I wasn’t on Dylan’s team, and although I was on Chris’ team, he disappeared rather rapidly and so I was left alone wondering what the hell I was doing and what exactly I should do if faced with someone shooting me. Once they shot me, however, I decided the best thing was to run away and hide until the end of the round.

Next time I do paintball I plan to definitely be on Dylan’s team, and to stick with him.

In other goal news I have been to my fourth concert for the ‘attend 5 concerts’ goal. I saw British India on Saturday night, and they were quite excellent. I will be completing this goal on Friday night with Paul Dempsey, which I’m pretty excited about. Going with Dylan to that one, and went with him to British India as well. I also have a sixth concert lined up, despite having completed the goal by then, that’ll be Birds of Tokyo which I am so freakin’ excited about because I have upgraded them to my second favourite band.

This is Dylan and myself at British India. Could possibly be the only photo of us where my head is above his shoulders.  Just a thought. Shh, I have a headache, I will slot in silly thoughts like this whenever I wish.

Ooh, we also went to Supanova, but due to technical difficulties I do not have many photos, however, here’s one of a man dressed as a dalek. Yes, this is a costume, a motorised one, and it’s freakin’ epic.

Oh, and I am working towards my goal of Cosplaying, which shall be taking place in one year. I am combining this with the goal of ‘spend more time outside’ which is where exercise will take place and I shall lose 10 kg or whatever doesn’t make me look like so thin it’s ghastly.

Anywho, off I go to do something or rather that’s possibly not Uni because after a whole day of Uni that’s the last thing I want to do.

Blog-a-log

25 03 2010

Hello there

I am here to inform you that I have completed another goal, which was to read 10 books for the purposes of pleasure and enjoyment, which was easier than first assumed, considering I have just about read that many books in this month alone, but when I started this challenge I hadn’t even read 10 books during that year, so as you can see I have made vast improvements.

I will also be going to another restaurant tomorrow night, Hooters, which shall be spectacular, I’m sure. Yes, I am indeed mad. There’s one down the road, and I’m actually more interested in the food than anything else. I said to myself, and out loud to my boyfriend, ‘I wonder if they have a good menu’, and then I proclaimed we’re going, then invited various people, and now we may be doing mini-golf as well, which is right next door to the place, so that shall be interesting/fun.

I am also rather close to completing the ‘Go to 5 concerts’ goal, a well, I’m three down, and just today realised that it will only take British India and Paul Dempsey next month to complete this goal. Awesome sauces.

Other than that, nothing much is really happening. Well, it is, but you know, more happening of the book varieties than anything else

April!

17 03 2010

It’s fast approaching, and beginning to feel like a burden already. This is because I have it specified in my goals that I have to participate in BEDA each time it occurs during the 1001 days. That’s 3 times. Last year I only lasted a few days before swearing off the thing and having to do an assignment.

I have enough of a problem blogging here once a week, usually. How I will blog each day of April I don’t know. My only consolation is that April is one of those months with only 30 days. The other problem with this is that an Easter break of around 10 days appears during this time, most of which the time will be spent with Dylan, which is wonderful. The fact I have to blog during this time, not so wonderful.

I’m actually trying to do a list of topics to talk about to make it much easier to blog about something in a record pace without spending half the day going ‘oh shit I haven’t blogged yet’.

Good news, turns out Maureen Johnson has turned ‘Blog Every Day April’ into ‘Blog Every Day August’. I shall see you in August then. Loool.

Look!

10 03 2010

I haven’t updated for a while, well I have, just not here. Ooohh, mysterious ways! Not really, I just have another blog for books I read, which is entitled something. http://1001reads.wordpress.com is the link for that one, if you are interested. You probably aren’t. Books aren’t interesting since you discovered that new show on Channel 10. I understand. Sort of.

In the mean time though, I shall describe that I have completed the video game Portal, which if you don’t know what Portal is by now, I wonder how you got internet in the cave you’re living in that’s situated under a rock on the distant planet entitled Fjordjf. Yes, that one. I made it through almost the entire game without any help, but Dylan had to step in near the end when I was like ‘omgomg’ because when games start timing me I think I go into intense stress mode and have what could almost be considered a panic attack when things start taking too long. Of course he did what I couldn’t do the first time he tried it. Or, well, he’d played it before but you know what I mean perhaps. Perhaps.

Anywho, what else? I’ve read a few books, and changed goal 88 or 86 or something with a 8 in it, it was to Re-read the Harry Potter books, but to be honest I’m not all that interested in doing that at the present time, something I may regret when the next film comes out, but alas I have changed it to read 50 books by 50 different authors, all of which must be from different countries. So that makes everything 10 times more difficult than before. I’ve done 6 countries so far; Austria, Germany, Mexico, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States. You can see the list of books along with countries in the books, films, etc tab that’s at the top of your screen somewhere.

I think that’s all at the present time. Fare thee well.

I forgot…

16 02 2010

I forgot to add that I had been to another restaurant in the last post, which was quite bad, as that one was accomplished thanks to Dylan. We went out for lunch for both the 6 months anniversary and Valentines Day, we went on the Saturday, which was in between the two days, very genius, I say.

We went to Earth ‘n Sea Pizza and Pasta at Coolangatta, that’s situated across the road from the beach, so we had lovely ocean views. We ate Spaghetti Bolognese and Lasagne, and then had a chocolate self-saucing pudding for dessert, it was all very wonderful. A lovely restaurant, I recommend it if you live in the area, which you probably don’t, so that’s tough cookies. I don’t even really live in the area.

I think I have now covered everything and if I have forgotten anything, Dylan will once again inform me, I’m sure. :P

Naked time!

16 02 2010

Goal number 56, go skinny dipping at midnight in the middle of summer, has been completed. The experience was a quick one, as the water was not of a satisfactory temperature, so it was more of an, no I won’t use that wording. Lets say that Dylan and I didn’t stay in the pool very long. Because it was cold. That sounds much nicer than the wording I was going to use.

I have also watched another 1001 movie, An American in Paris, which is a musical about, yes, you guessed it, An American in Paris. It has Gene Kelly and an assortment of people I can’t recall the names of.

I’m presently reading another classic book, for goal number 4; Notes From the Underground by Fyodor Dostoevsky, which started out rather dull and nonsense like, for 50 pages or so, but has now greatly improved with the appearance of a plot line.

It’s just over four months since I started this challenge, and I believe I’m at around 17/101, which is quite a good effort considering there’s about 29 months left in the challenge. I don’t know how many goal opportunities Uni will present, but I’m going to put in a bit of effort on the movie related goals. These shouldn’t be too difficult to achieve during Uni.

Beary Awesome.

Got a build a bear today, named Trevor

Here is an image of Trevor.

So that’s goal number 33 crossed off, to get a build a bear. Very exciting stuff, we were there for quite a while. He is very adorable.

I also watched another of the 1001 movies, a 26 minute film called Las Hurdes or Land Without Bread from 1933, which was all in French and I only knew what was going on by the description in the 1001 films book. Otherwise I’d have no clue. It was really a mini-doco of sorts, and wasn’t overly entertaining but it was a quick view, so that’s 11 of those viewed now. Dylan is downloading a heap of these movies for the pair of us to watch at some point, so I’m sure that’ll help this goal along.
